Hi my beautiful friends. Today is another edition of the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge and our theme is ‘Things That Fly’. I had to think for a while about my nail art for this challenge, because I didn’t want to make something too obvious. At the end I decided to go with some dreamcatcher nails inspired by a picture found on Pinterest. Feathers, birds, things that fly… I hope you are following my thinking.
I started off my dreamcatcher accent nail with a pure white base. Then I took my black acrylic paint and a tiny nail art brush to make the dreamcatcher. I love using this nail art brush for such detailed work. It’s very thin and flexible and because it’s in a pen form, it’s a little heavier comparing to the wooden brushes, which makes it easier to control. It’s also double ended with a flat brush at on the other side.
I made the feathers with grey China Glaze Recycle, added some colorful beads and golden accents. The middle nail is inspired by the print on the bottle from my inspirational picture. My base here is Ella+Mila Mauve Over and the details were made with a white acrylic paint. Ugh, my white paint is such a bad quality and I had to go over the lines so many times to get a good opacity and they look all messy! Gotta make a trip to an art supply store soon and pick up another one.
I am wearing Glam Polish I Know You Want Me! on my index finger and KIKO no. 389 on my pinky (and added a little triangle stud). My boyfriend said that the pinky looks “out of sync” with the rest of the nails, haha. He is seriously my biggest nail critic and I take his comments into consideration, but usually I just nod my head and tell him that I know what I’m doing. I wanted to add a little pop of color to this monochrome look, so hence the turquoise.
What do you guys think of these? Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below and please make sure you check out all the other entries to the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge.
