Hi my beautiful friends. Today I have an exciting post for you. I teamed up with my favorite person and we did a twin mani. I am talking of course about my lovely friend Mina who is behind the Cubbiful blog. We were browsing through ideas and we thought of making a floral mani at first, but our hearts stole a cute watermelon pattern, so watermelon nails it is. Let’s take a look at the pattern we were inspired by and then I will show you the creations. Btw, the pattern was an original creation by Jorden Vilos who is a graphic designer and you can find her work here.
Isn’t this a cute fruit design? Mina and I thought this would b a perfect nail art to greet the upcoming summer. There is nothing better than some fruit on your nails.
I started these cute watermelon nails by painting my nails white to intensify the beautiful green base. I didn’t have the exact shade of green, so I mixed two polishes. I first applied Claire’s Beach and on top I put two layers of Maybelline Bleached Neons Chic Chartreuse. I think the two colors created something that looks a little similar to that lime green from the inspirational picture.
After my base was dry I started to work on the cute slices. To make my work easier, I painted the whole watermelon slice in light pink and then added a darker part later. I used a beautiful baby pink by Color Club called Flamingo and the darker color is China Glaze Rose Among Thorns. I haven’t done any nail art in forever and you can tell my lines are a little rusty.
To finish off the fruits I added a little green stripe for the skin and the black seeds. I used green China Glaze in Four Leaf Clover and LVX Livid. At the end I added shit loads of top coat to even out all the imperfections and to add a massive shine.
Here is a little collage of both out creations. I love how we both had different takes on the same design. I think that’s what makes any twin mani special, our own little touches. I love how Mina made the seeds look so long and slim (like in a real watermelon) and her lines are so straight too. She is really good with free handing anything! And the cute little stud? Love it. Thank you so much Mina for doing these awesome watermelon nails with me. I was feeling so rusty today when doing these nails, since I haven’t done any mani in so long, but you managed to inspire me and it was so much fun to do another twin mani with you. You always motivate me and reassure me when I have my little moments of doubt and I thank you for it.You are the best :*
I really hope you liked out watermelon nails. Have a good one and see you next time!
